Amy grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1987. Amy graduated cum laude from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991. Amy passed the South Dakota Bar Exam in 1994 and then began practicing law in Sioux Falls.
In addition to practicing law, Amy ran the Second Circuit Court Visitation Enforcement Program from 2002 through 2009. Amy is married to her husband, Steve Walsh, and has two daughters.
